In Colossians 1:28-29, Paul defines the goal as “complete in Christ,” and describes the means to get their as the proclamation of Christ “admonishing everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom.”
Describe in your own words how this verse sets the Word of God as a priority in the life of a church.
Explain the importance of admonishment in seeing others grow in Christ (see Eph 4:15; Rom 15:14; Heb 3:12-13; 1 Thes 5:14-15).
How does this goal in making the Word of God a priority prevent us from making the study of God’s Word simply an intellectual exercise
Romans 12:1-2 tells us to not be conformed to this world, but transformed through the renewing of our minds.
What has God given us to renew our minds?
What does 12:2 tell us to discern in that process?
What is the inevitable result of this renewing (see 12:3-13)?
Peter tells us to “long for the pure spiritual milk” like newborn babies so that we might grow up into salvation.
What does Peter tell us to put off as we approach the Word of God (1 Pet 2:1)?
Why is believing and applying the Word just as important as knowing it (see James 1:22-25)?
What are some ways you can make the Word of God a priority this year; not just to know it, but to seek to apply it in your daily life (see Heb 3:12-13; 2 Tim 3:16-4:4; Eph 6:18-20)?
